Imagine driving down a beautiful country road, looking around and not seeing any electric wires or gigantic forest cutout. How is this possible? The answer may lie with the progression of a new invention by Bloom Energy.
An innovative machine called the “Bloom Box” is being produced by a this Silicon Valley-based-company. It’s claimed that the small, wireless box can be placed in anyone’s own backyard and turn around emission-free. Inside the box, a reaction between Co2 and methane would catalyze enough electricity for an entire household. Check out the 60 Minute Video below:
Just as the laptop moved in on the desktop, and the cell phone passed landline telephones, the Bloom Box could become a household electricity producer, available for purchase for $3,000. Compared to solar energy, a large selling point is the fact the sun does not shine 24 hours a day, but the Bloom Box has the capability to produce energy all day everyday. And the idea that forests will no longer have to be destroyed for electric lines adds a welcome note to the Box as well. Bloom Energy could shed a glimmer of hope on emission-free electricity production.
Our Intern, Megan brought this breaking news to our attention; and after some of her research, it definitely raises an interesting idea. We’re not experts on energy production, but we know clean and sustainable energy is a great thing! So what do you think?
